I am a Shabby Chic kind of girl. I like some bright colors but am very drawn to a pastel theme in my home: light blues, pinks and teal.
So, imagine my surprise when I painted this painting, that is very much not true to a pastel palette.
Changing of the seasons.
Now, you might be asking yourself…..”Why is there a head coming out of no where?”.
Well, let me tell you. As this is a free flow painting – not knowing what the end result is going to be – I laid down paint moved it around and laid down some more. Then, just like when you are looking at the clouds and see a dog in all that fluff, I saw a face in the red paint.
So, I went with it and the rest of the painting continued to materialize around it. I worked with the colors I had placed and decided to go with the theme I was seeing. I added color progression to her hair and foliage welcoming her.
I named the painting: Changing of the Seasons. Mother Natures’ hair goes from summer green, to fall yellow, oranges and reds to winter whites and blues. Some fall rain drops and line work and there she was, about as far from Shabby Chic as you can get.
But do you know what, I love this painting. But holy buckets what else is ratting around in that brain of mine just waiting for me to start moving some paint around on a new canvas?
